April update and new look

How's it april already (saying the exact same intro again and again) I've been very busy this month!! Let's dive in!!

Got a mini comic out for Takumi's bday (Hey I got it out during April sooo...!!)

I'm hoping to sit down this week and just blast out the script for my next comic: Corpsing. It'll be a erothriller... With a little findom. As a treat. 🙂‍↕️ It'll be my longest comic to date... I'm hoping to get up in the 40-50 page range! Look forward to it...!

Toxic Yuri VN Jam

I'm gonna be making a game with my team for this year's TYVN! No spoilers... but we're all dying to get started.

The community TYVN has fostered is so amazing to see. They really do the work, and being able to encourge others and give them to space to create and bounce ideas is harder than it looks.

It's closer then you think... June isn't that far away... Eep!!

Cons

I made DCAF again! It has a new location, and was a bit last-minute with applications going up. I only had time to reprint my mini-zines.

It was a great day. THE PEOPLE WANT LESBIANS! THEY WANT COMICS! There is such an appetite for it. I always just assume my work is for me, and it doesn't really reach people... but knowing people made the effort to come over, say hi and support me means everything in these trying times <3

I'd love to do other Irish cons but my work is very adult-orientated... so it's completely understandable why the college cons here don't pick me LOL!!

International...?

BIG NEWS!! I got into Y/Con! I'm excited AND afraid!! I've only done small cons here, so this will be my first big girl con. It'll be a big adventure for sure ;w;

Yes... I've ordered the cubes(tm)... I've lots of ideas and I'm excira to start working. I'll most likely stick to paper goods. As much as I love photocard holders and keychains, for myself personally it's not my thing. I'm hoping to look into wooden charms (thinking...) but I'll stick to what I know!

Screentime

It's so bad isn't it? I have done so much to ween myself off my phone!! I recently installed leechblock on my phone's firebox browser and THAT has been the best thing. You can set timers (I can only go on certain sites after I'm finished work). I like ublock on desktop butt hat's TOO easy for me to switch off. I have been good though and haven't cracked... It's scary realising how much control it has over you!!

It's been one of those times in my life where my lovely friends make themselves known. I've been having so many nice moments or gestures of love given to me. There's so many things I don't want to forget...! I have been making more of an effort to document... More then every nowadays since the chatting platform you've used for 10~ years can suddenly go. With all those memories... (I gotta backup discord sometime this month orz)

Walk in the Sun got popular again this month (It got shown on the front page of Itchio, as fresh and new lol) and I have been thinking a little about the past, and what inspired me to make the game in the first place... Life can get pretty good, if you try a little.

Welcome... to gg8473 v3!!

Do you like it?? The new lick of paint?? It's looking well if you ask me.

gg8473.com is now built with a Static Site generator...! 11ty to be exact. I cannot believe I was so hesitate when it makes everything SO easy!!

Basically you're making a html template, and with 11ty you shove all your page's content in there. It does take a lot of messing around but once it clicks, it clicks. The biggest plus is being to have your footer/nav as separate files. So when you change add a link for example, you only have to do it once. It's changed everywhere!

I don't think I'd recommend it right off the bat for people coming into webdev. I think you should get your feet wet and see if having a website is even your cuppa tea.

main

The biggest change is to the main "set" of pages.

I discovered css grids... If you're a flexbox lover, you're going to LOVE grids. We all gotta get the indie web on grids LOL that's what the main page is made up of. You can make all sorts of bento boxes. I had to watch a lot of videos to wrap my head around it.

qol

My main goal with this update was quality of life (for myself and you), and accessibility. I didn't like that I relied on javascript for a huge chunk of my website (the repeating navbar and my theme changer for example), and I will always rep foollover's templates but I wanted to challenge myself!

You'll notice that most of the pages have automatic light/dark mode that match with your browser/device's settings... all done with css :3

A lot of my css/html was redone. Old bits I wasn't using or had discovered a modern way to deal with it.

What's next?

God, I think I'll rest up. This whole month was a lot of work and a lot of fun. But a LOT. I also started a new job...! I'm going to get busy for the next few months so I'm happy to have the site done and dusted.
